[origin: DE19737886C1] The chain saw has a housing (1) containing a drive motor driving a saw chain on a blade (2). The blade is held at one end across the plane between the casing and a tensioner (3) clamped to the casing. The saw blade is held longitudinally movably (L) and held by the tension of the chain by the tensioner. Between the blade and the casing and -or between the blade and the tensioner, are locks (4a,b) to prevent movement of the blade. The locks can be formed as saw tooth shaped interengaging support plates , which allow a movement of the saw blade in the chain tensioning direction but prevents slackening movement.
