[origin: EP0899381A1] The block is shaped with a central transverse rib having a slot to receive the sign, which can be changed as required. The temporary road sign includes a base made of rubber or similar material in order to hold a sign (9) in a vertical position. The low base (2) has a central transverse rib (4) within which there is a vertical slot (5). This is intended to receive the foot of the sign (9) in a removable fitting. An antitheft or securing shaft may be inserted through a hole (14) in the base, and a corresponding hole in the foot of the sign. The base and sign may be fitted together interchangeably, and the right angle corners of the base may be replaced by an alternative shape, whilst serving the same purpose. The base may be made from recycled rubber or plastic material, such as is derived from old pneumatic tires, cable insulation etc.
