Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0899426A2] The guide vanes' (1) inner and outer ends form mounting rings when assembled together. Each end has a flat face (7) at one side with a raised centre section (8) and an open profile face at the other side. The raised profile section fits into the open profile of the adjacent vane to form part of the support ring, and allow it to align itself. The profiled couplings have limited movement to provide a friction damping effect. The raised profile, and the corresponding recess, preferably covers between 30% and 50% of the area of the face. The profile is preferably between 3 mm and 5 mm proud of the face. The wall thickness of the hollow profile ring sections may be constant.
