[origin: DE19721127A1] The paging network expansion method uses connection of the unidirectional paging network to a mobile radio telephone network via an interface in the form of a direct data connection, for direct data exchange between the paging network and the radio telephone network. A paging signal is transmitted to a terminal in standard format via the paging network, with transmission of acknowledgement signals for the paging call and/or other signals and messages via signalling channels of the mobile radio telephone network and the direct data connection interface.
