Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0900893A2] The shell-like gas impermeable cover(1) has two seals(15,16) of a diffusion resistant material, especially metal, plastic or metal-coated plastic which rest on the area(3) around the joint(2) to be sealed. Integral chambers(7,8) along both inner sides of the cover hold the seals. An Independent claim is also made for a method for removing harmful substances which diffuse out of walls, floors or other similar objects. The cover(1) is attached to the wall or floor(3) by fasteners each comprising a holder bonded or screwed to the cover and a positively locking fitting held in the joint, especially in a dowel in the latter. Adsorption parts(17,18) in an air permeable wrapping are incorporated inside the cover(1) with the seals(15,16) behind or to the side of the adsorption parts. Alternatively the back of the cover may be filled with an adsorption material. Seals may consist of two plastic layers sandwiching an aluminium layer.
