[origin: EP0904850A2] The device has a paint distributor (21) formed by a polygonal insert extending over the full axial length of a carrier tube (11). The insert has a tubular section (23) on the tube with two or more integral radial ribs (24). The support tube (8) of the application roller (7) engages on the ribs. The inner surface of the tubular section has axial apertures forming throttle channels (28) with the outer carrier tube surface, which are connected to the tube interior (12). Free spaces (29) formed between the ribs contain paint (3) and are connected to the throttle channels via radial bores (30) in the tubular section.
