[origin: EP0905079A1] The catch brake mechanism, for an elevator cage, has at least one tilting rocker (1.1,1.2) and a system (6.1,6.2,10.1,10.2,11.1,11.2) to set the braking force when the cage is moving upwards and an independent brake setting for the descent. The rocker is linked to a brake pad (14.1,14.2,15.1,15.2). The mechanism to adjust the braking force on ascent and descent has, for each, a pressure disk (9), pressure spring (10.1,10.2) and a setting screw (11.1,11.2).
