Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0907019A2] The ignition device includes an ignition coil with a coil core (5) and a primary- (7) and a secondary winding (6), and a spark plug with a spark plug body (2) and an insulator (1), whereby the ignition coil and the spark plug are firmly combined to a component. The insulator extends preferably to the casing of the ignition coil, in which both windings and the coil core are arranged. An arc electrode of the device is preferably coated with a precious metal, e.g. platinum, iridium.
