[origin: WO9747414A2] A strip casting device with a revolving belt is disclosed. In the cooling area, the belt is sucked in against the carrier by a negative pressure in the cooler. Formerly used carriers were designed as supporting rollers and had a profiled surface, the profile being substantially composed of grooves whose width corresponded to the width of the sections with the largest diameter. This did not sufficiently reduce thermal stresses, and the belt tended to curve away from the supporting roller, worsening heat transfer and imprinting a profile corresponding to the belt curvature on the thin cast strip. In the disclosed strip casting plant, the carriers are spaced apart in such a way that given the known mechanical properties of the revolving belt, a curvature that compensates for thermal elongation is created between the supporting surfaces.
