[origin: WO9749784A1] The invention discloses a steam cracking installation and method with controlled injection of solid particles in a quenching exchanger (3). The particles are injected with a single axially injecting conduit located on the axis of the quenching exchanger feed hopper (2), immediately upstream of an impact separator-diffuser (6) comprising solid surfaces arranged opposite the conduit for the transfer of the cracked gases towards the exchanger; this impact separator-diffuser is located in the exchanger feed hopper (2), is permeable to gases by means of a plurality of passages, and has an opacity of at least 70 % as viewed from the transfer conduit.
