[origin: WO9746689A1] The present invention discloses protease deficient filamentous fungus mutants with reduced extracellular acid protease activity, which in addition also contains a site selected disruption of DNA that results in the filamentous fungus having reduced metallo protease activity. Preferably, the filamentous fungus is of the genus Aspergillus. The invention further discloses DNA sequences encoding fungal metallo proteases. Said DNA sequences are used for disruption of metallo protease genes in filamentous fungi as well as for recombinant production of fungal metallo proteases.
