[origin: DE19625618C1] An impact recognition device has at least one micromechanically formed acceleration switch (11) with a contact piece (111), which is movable in dependence on acceleration, and with a counter-contact piece (112). For impact recognition purposes, a first voltage (USS1) is supplied by a monitoring circuit (3) to terminals (1111, 1121) of the contact pieces (111, 112), while a second voltage (USS2), through which the contact (111, 112) is made by virtue of electrostatic forces of attraction, serves to test the acceleration switch (11).
