[origin: EP0908243A2] Temperature of billets is controlled during their diversion, i.e. after their extraction from the line (A, B) of the casting machine (1, 2) and before introduction into the line (D) of the rolling installation (4) and the lines (A, B and D) are left free. There is a furnace (7) between the lines. Pivotable or transversely movable billet guide units (5, 6) are at the ends (9, 10) of the furnace.
