Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0908248A2] Friction between top and bottom rolls is controlled by wetting the surfaces (23, 24) of the rolled product (25) with the spray liquid whose amount and delivery are determined and controlled by a control system (3). The apparatus for controlling the friction between the top and bottom rolls (6, 7) of a roll stand (28) includes a spray unit (2) on the entry side (27) of the roll stand, and a control system (3) for determining the amount of the spray liquid to be delivered. A quantity determined beforehand or obtained by calculation is used in combination with the actual rolling torque of the bottom and/or the top roll as the control variable. The top (23) and bottom (24) surfaces of the rolled product (25) are wetted with the spray liquid whose amount and delivery are determined and controlled by the control system (3).
