[origin: EP0909115A2] The heating element (10) has a resistance heating coil (16) supported by a thermal insulation material (14) which contains hydrophobic hydrated silica, e.g. a mixture of microporous hydrated silica and hydrophobic hydrated silica. Applications of an electric heating element for a ceramic glass cooking hob and a baking oven are independently claimed.
