[origin: DE19713790A1] Known devices for unwinding reels (2) comprise a stand having longitudinal (4) and transverse (5, 6) bars and an unwinder bar (7) accommodated in the stand and stretching obliquely across the working width. Two transversally displaceable supporting bars (19, 20) are accommodated on the unwinder bar (7), each having a driving head (22) on the open end for insertion into the tube of a reel (2). In accordance with the invention, the unwinder bar (7), which can be raised and lowered, is suspended from traction mechanisms, in particular cables (8), by means of a lift drive (17), in the stand. The oscillating, mobile suspension automatically positions the driving heads (22) on insertion of a reel (2) into the tube.
