Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9801795A1] A device comprising a spherical shell (1) supported on a shaft (2) powered by a motor (5) via a gear (4) such that it rotates once every 24 hours, is disclosed. The shell (1) encloses a circular flat screen (23) supported on on a cradle (22) via a horizontal pin perpendicular to the design. An eccentric (21) at the end of the shaft (19) and guided in a fixed shaft (20) swings the screen supporting a lamp (26) on either side of a central position aligned with the rotational axis of the shell (1), thereby showing the areas of night and day as well as the height of the sun above the equator in the different seasons. The shaft (20) is driven via the gear (17) of said motor (5). The graduated time indicator (10) has radial plates (14) with inner edges (15) opposite the meridians of the shell (1). The indicator is stationary and enables the local time to be determined at any point on the globe.
