[origin: DE19629475A1] The invention relates to a compressed gas switch with two contact pieces (1, 2), a contact element (3) by-passing said contact pieces when in the on-position, and two isolating distances (11, 24) connected to each other in series. The second contact piece (2) opposing the first isolating distance (11) is arranged axially by an annular piston (21) to be displaceable forming a switching chamber (17). Said switching chamber (17) is separated from the heating chamber by a bulkhead partition (13) having a current-dependent valve (25), and the second isolating distance (24) is produced after opening of a blowing hole (12) between the second contact piece (2) and the contact element (3). The invention is particularly suitable for compressed gas power switches with compression means.
