Die Erfindung betrifft eine Kokille für eine Stranggießanlage mit einem formgebenden Kokillenrohr (1) aus einem Material hoher Wärmeleitfähigkeit. Zur Reduzierung der Wärmeabfuhr im Höhenbereich des Gießspiegels (7) ist die Außenseite (6) des Kokillenrohrs (1) mit einer Beschichtung (8) aus einem Material mit einer gegenüber dem Werkstoff des Kokillenrohrs (1) niedrigeren Wärmeleitfähigkeit versehen. Hieraus resultiert ein reduzierter Wärmefluß mit höheren Temperaturen im Gießspiegelbereich, wodurch eine Verbesserung der Oberflächenqualität eines Gießstrangs erreicht wird. <IMAGE>
