[origin: EP0911475A1] The internal surface (2) of an outer layer (1) of the barrier element has raised areas or ribs creating undulations with a depth of about 2 cm. The soft layer (3) runs parallel to the outer layer and is covered at the back by a metal layer (4). Independent claims are made for: a) a lock for a burglar proof chamber or container with a moving locking part; b) a secure key retainer, especially for holding an emergency key for a building. Preferred Features: The barrier element forms a lock cover and has an opening for a rotating locking cylinder with an inner end connected to a locking bolt and a cam. Cylinder rotation rotates the locking bolt and cam which raises a blocking pin into the unlocking position. Protection against drilling of the lock is effected by the cam falling and preventing locking bolt movement. A key retainer has a housing whose inner chamber is accessible by an opening closed by the lock. An insert of the locking part forms a ring around the locking cylinder. The disc-shaped locking bolt has locking pegs acting in conjunction with stop bolts. A swiveling anti-vandal cover is located in front of the barrier element and is locked or released by a locking system with a spring-loaded pin. Unlocking of the pin can be effected either by a remote signal controlling an electromagnet or by a magnet acting on a permanent magnet at the tip of the pin.
