Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9835790A1] The aim of the invention is to improve a gripping device comprising a guiding rail, a first gripping element resting on the guiding rail with a first gripping surface formed by a pressure piece of a gripping spindle and moveable in the gripping direction, a sliding clamp guided on the guiding rail, moveable along said rail and fixable by a first jamming element and an advance device which has a second jamming element which can rest on the guiding rail and a pivoted advance lever with its handle between the guiding rail and the gripping spindle clamping grip and a second gripping element resting on the guiding rail with a second gripping surface in a such a way that it can be applied to a work piece more effectively in ergonomic terms and that the work piece can be gripped completely. To this end, it is suggested that the advance lever should operate with a first pressure element between the second jamming element and the sliding clamp in such a way that when the advance lever is activated in the direction of the gripping spindle clamping grip, the sliding clamp is displaceable in relation to the second jamming element in the gripping direction.
