[origin: WO9803361A1] An oil damper system consisting of a piston (13) mounted at the end of a rod (10) movable in a hollow cylindrical body (15) such that it drives the oil out of the space between the piston (13) and the bottom of the hollow damper body and into a flexible buffer chamber (4) to the outside of which is applied a pressurised gas (5). The oil is discharged into the chamber via at least two different ports depending on the moving speed of the piston. The oil flow path passes through an intermediate chamber with a predetermined volume, and the ports are arranged between the buffer chamber (4) and the intermediate chamber (321). At least one of the ports is sealed by an adjustable non-return valve (36) acting as an adjustable hydraulic brake operable to prevent oil discharge unless the pressure exerted on the oil by the piston is such that it exceeds the most extreme of the expected use conditions of the vehicle.
