Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19628891C1] A power supply control unit for a lamp that has luminous means (10) and an at least partially electroconductive lamp housing (12) comprises a first and a second line (P, N) by which a power supply signal can be applied to the luminous means (10) and which are insulated from the lamp housing (12). The electrical power to be applied to the luminous means (10) is switched or controlled by means of a switching device (18) in the first or second line (P, N). A control circuit (14) has an oscillator and an evaluation unit, the oscillator delivering to an output a signal that differs in frequency from the power supply signal and that is electrically coupled to the lamp housing (12). To control the switching device (18), the evaluation unit responds to frequency and/or amplitude changes of the oscillator signal brought about by contacting of the lamp housing. The at least partially electroconductive lamp housing is also connected to a device (22) that is also connected to a ground potential and represents a high impedance for the oscillator signal, whereas, relative to the high impedance, it constitutes a low impedance for the power supply signal.
