[origin: EP0913352A2] The folding mechanism has a first folding roller (12), a pair of counter-rotating folding rollers (14,16) and an adjustable folding pocket (20), with evaluation of the supplied sheet length between the detection of the sheet entry and the detected deflection of at least one of the folding rollers upon formation of the fold. The deflection of the folding roller may be detected via a bearing lever and associated expansion measuring strips, or a piezoelectric sensor. A register regulation method for an envelope folding mechanism is independently claimed.
