Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0913897A1] The ignition plug has an insulating layer (10) on a section in the combustion chamber (7), separating an electrically conducting inner electrode (1) from an earth housing electrode (4). A HF high voltage field is applied to the plug to form plasma in the combustion chamber and ignite the air-fuel mixture. The inner electrode has at least one electrically conducting section (9) on its combustion chamber end. An independent claim is also included for use of the ignition plug in lean-burn, layer-charge and diesel engines.
