Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0914976A1] Air leakage from an air spring in a suspension device for vehicles is prevented by preventing interference between an air spring supporting member provided between a beam mounted to an axle casing and a vehicle frame and the beam. The air spring (60) is provided between an end of the beam (24) mounted to the axle casing (2) and the vehicle frame (2). Formed between the beam (24) and a lower end of a housing section (68), which constitutes a piston (85) being a second supporting member for the air spring (60), is a relief (82) which prevents interference between the beam and the housing section (68) when the beam (24) deforms. Accordingly, the housing section (68) is not susceptible of any damage due to collision between it and the beam (24). Also, airtightness is maintained in an auxiliary air chamber (69) in the housing section (68), which communicates to an air chamber (66) in a diaphragm (63) through communication holes (73). <IMAGE>
