[origin: EP0916275A2] The footwear has an upper in two layers (1,2) and a sole. The inner layer (2) has at least one functional layer that is impermeable to water but permeable to vapor, and an inner lining layer. The lower section of the inner part of the upper is extended (3',3) to give a watertight sealing bond, and the inner layer is bonded to the sole (7) only at the extended zone. The extension of the upper is preferably at the inner layer.
