[origin: WO9635551A1] In order to create a simple and inexpensive aid for laying floor-covering elements (14), in particular finished parquet, laminated or flooring panels, it is proposed that the aid (10) should take the form of a band tensioner with a band (16, 26, 36) and should be provided on both sides with a form unit (20, 24, 30, 34), each form unit should have a retainer (20b, 24b, 38) for the band, each form unit should be provided with an arm (19) with a projection (25) which can be fixed in a groove (27, 33) or on a tongue (29, 31) of the floor-covering elements by engagement inside the groove or gripping the tongue, and, when the arm is so secured, the retainer is positioned in such a way that the band is guided by the retainer close to the floor-covering elements.
