[origin: EP0916491A1] Image elements are photo-electrically scanned over both visible and infrared spectra. From the scanned signals, color coordinates approximating to a sensitivity-wise equal separation color system and at least one infrared value are determined. From the color coordinates and the infrared value, a color value gradient is determined.
