[origin: EP0916562A1] The car (1) has a driver's cab at one end (6) of the lower deck. It has an upper deck (2) with a closed end in the form of an open end face wall (13), extending from the floor (4) of the upper deck to the roof (15), and across a sector of the width of the car. A safety device (14), possibly in the form of a window or a balustrade, prevents people or objects falling to the lower deck. There may be another window from the top edge of the balustrade extending part of the way to the roof.
