Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0916753A2] In a spinning plant, at least one color sensor (17) automatically registers the different colors of the roving bobbin sleeves (11) moving past on the continuous conveyor (7), to control the working of the transfer unit (5) accordingly. A color sensor is at each transfer unit (5) for its control. At least one color sensor is at the conveyor, linked to a central control (19) to set the working of at least one transfer unit at a roving frame (1). The color sensor has discrimination for at least n different colors, where n is the number of roving frames installed, or the color discrimination is for n+m colors, where n is the number of roving frames and m the number of roving qualities which can be changed simultaneously. At least one color sensor is in front of the filling sensor (12), in the direction of travel of the roving bobbins (10) and roving bobbin sleeves (11), or vice versa to activate the color sensor. The color sensor and filling sensor are combined in a sensor unit. An Independent claim is included for the operation of the spinning plant. As a suspended conveyor (7) position passes towards a transfer unit, a preceding color sensor (17) registers whether the position is occupied by a full roving bobbin or an empty roving bobbin sleeve, for the filling sensor to be activated as required according to the color/quality. Or the filling sensor monitors the conveyor position to activate the color sensor.
