[origin: CA2254096A1] The invention relates to a cutting tooth to be fitted in a cutting-tooth holder of an earthworking appliance having at least one cutter which is mounted ahead of a cu tter-support region, as seen in the cutting direction, and has at least one cutting edge, whe rein the size of the cross-sectional areas of the cutter-support region which lie perpendicular to th e cutting advance direction and intersect the at least one cutting edge remains approximately cons tant in at least one area which is delimited by in each case two such cross-sectional areas. This allows an efficient cutting advance combined with a simple design even in the event of wear to the advance side facing in the cutting advance direction.
