[origin: EP0916782A2] The modular wall cladding system has a number of visible tiles (10,12) with mountings (18,20) at their rear sides, which are not visible at their outer contours. At least one carrier (32), pref. as a rail, holds the tiles (10,12) at the wall surface (30) at least at one mounting zone (58) for a fitting (40) to lock the carrier (30) at the wall surface (30). At least one holder (36) for a seal (41) is at the carrier (32), parallel to the wall surface.
