[origin: DE19718885A1] The invention relates to a gas burner with a housing (22) comprising a combustion chamber having an inlet for a gas or a gas-air mixture and an outlet for the exhaust gas. At least one combustion body (14) made of porous material is arranged inside said combustion chamber, wherein the gas-air mixture is burned. The combustion body is subdivided into at least two partial combustion bodies (14.1, 14.2), wherein a cooling device is allocated to the combustion body. Higher output yield and lower toxic substance emission can be achieved by means of combustion body which forms a partial combustion body (14.2) on the side facing the cooling device at least in the area where the heat arises. Said side of the combustion body has a lower flow resistance than that of the partial combustion body (14.1) facing away from the cooling device.
