[origin: EP0918129A2] A door or window frame is assembled from hollow extrusions to which are fitted sealing strips etc. Some of the hollow spaces are filled with insulation inserts (3). The inserts are pre-shaped to fit into the spaces. They are also slotted to take metal reinforcing strips (4,5). The metal strips are pressed into the insulation strips before inserting into the frames. No additional fittings, adhesive etc. are required to fit the insulation. The frames can be easily broken down and separated into the constituent materials at end of life.
