[origin: EP0919144A1] The method involves passing the strip (9) through a guide channel whilst constricting it to form a chord of filter material which is finally enclosed by an envelope strip (24). Filter rods are cut from the chord. Compressed gas, preferably compressed air, fed into the strip during constriction emanates downstream in an air outlet zone. A further gas flow, preferably air is blown into the filter strip upstream of the outlet zone and the air emanates through channels in another downstream outlet zone.
