Abstract (en)
[origin: CA2254387A1] A device (10) for indirect application of a liquid or viscous medium onto a traveling material web (18), specifically a paper or cardboard web, including an applicator device (14) for the application of a layer of liquid or viscous medium onto the surface (12a) of a transfer element (12) which is in contact with the moving material web (18) and which transfers the coating onto this web. Also including a leveling unit (30), equipped with a leveling element (32) which is positioned against the material web (18) for smoothing of the coating layer (26) on the material web (18). The leveling element (32) is mounted rigidly in cross direction (Q) to the material web (18), that is in a direction essentially orthogonally and in a local material web progression to the direction of travel (L) of the material web (18).
