Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9805451A1] This invention concerns a fireproof plate (20) serving as a sliding gate at the outlet of a vessel containing molten metal. The periphery of the plate forms a many-sided polygon and has a longitudinal axis (23) from both sides of which at least two lateral faces (24, 25) of differing length extend, forming an obtuse angle ( gamma ) to each other, and serve as clamping surfaces of the plate (20) in a metal frame (11) or similar arrangement. The shorter lateral faces (24) are each arranged at an angle ( alpha ) betweeen 20 DEG and 50 DEG to the longitudinal axis (23), while the longer lateral faces (25) each form an angle ( beta ) between 10 DEG and 30 DEG to the longitudinal axis (23). This allows the fireproof plate to be optimally clamped, thus extending its longevity.
