[origin: DE19725462A1] The invention relates to a medical gear pump (10) for suctioning and rinsing, specially for endoscopic or laboratory purposes. The inventive device has two engaging toothed gears (42, 44) serving as conveyor elements. One of said gears (42) is connected to a drive unit. The toothed gears (42, 44) have no journal bearings and are accommodated in openings (38, 40). Each toothed gear (42, 44) has helical gearing. According to the invention, the helical gearing is configured in such a way that, when seen from its sheath line, at least two tip/base rests of the engaging toothed gears (42, 44) are provided, and the contour of the tooth gaps of one of the toothed gears is configured to match the teeth of the other toothed gear so that when a tooth is fully inserted into the gap, its tip fills said gap radially inside the pitch circle in an almost complete manner (Fig. 3).
