[origin: US6564954B1] In a rope hoist (9), the rope drum (17) is rotatably mounted in a roughly C-shaped frame (13). To mount the rope drum (17), an appropriate bearing arrangement 37) is provided at one side, whereas at the other side the mounting of the rope drum (17) is effected solely via the output shaft (61) of the gearing (19). Distortions in the frame (13 ) on account of unavoidable alignment errors are absorbed by the torsionally nonrigid frame (13).
