Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0922500A2] The doctor assembly, to spread and/or apply a coating to a moving web, has a pressure system to hold the doctor (18) against the web with at least one force unit (24) with a spring unit (26) acting on the force transfer unit (22). The force transfer unit (22) is at a carrier (28), which also supports at least one force unit (24), with at least one spring structure (26) for elasticity. The force transfer unit (22) is at least partially of a plastics material. At least one spring unit (26) has a draw spring and/or a pressure spring and/or a draw/pressure spring. The spring unit can be a coil spring (26), a gas spring and/or a leaf spring and/or a rubber component or of a rubber-type material. At least one damper is at the force unit and/or force transfer unit. The damper and spring system can be an integral structure. A number of force units (24) are deployed across the web width. The force transfer system has a number of units. A component lies across the web width, between the deployed force transfer units and the doctor. The force transfer unit (22) is in one piece, with a number of slits and/or thinner wall sections, at a set minute gap from the doctor. The doctor is a doctor blade (18), doctor rod or doctor bar.
