[origin: EP0922781A1] An iron aluminide coating consists of (in wt.%): 5-35 aluminum, 15-25 chromium, 0.5-10 molybdenum, tungsten, tantalum, and niobium, 0-0.3 zirconium, 0-1 boron, and 0-1 yttrium, with a balance of iron. An Independent claim is also included for application of the coating comprising coating a workpiece with a platinum layer and applying the iron aluminide coating to the platinum layer.
