[origin: DE19727896A1] The invention relates to a fuel injection valve having a valve element (14) which is controlled by the pressure in a control pressure chamber (23), and whose opening movement is influenced via a compensation pressure surface (21) of the valve element (14). The compensation pressure surface is contiguous to a hydraulic chamber (20) whose pressure is controlled by means of a piston (33). This piston keeps the hydraulic prestress of the hydraulic chamber (20) reduced to a substantially constant value, and can compensate volume changes of the hydraulic chamber by being displaced against a reference pressure (39).
