In a process to condition finely cut tobacco, the cut tobacco is gently heated and moistened, bringing the moisture content to a maximum of 18 to 18.5 per cent. The tobacco is then immediately sieved and cooled, the moisture content at this stage being a maximum of 17 to 17.5 per cent.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Behandlung von Tabakfeinschnitt bei dem der geschnittene Tabak beim Vorwärmen und Anfeuchten auf einen Feuchtigkeitsgehalt von höchstens 18 bis 18,5% angefeuchtet und danach ohne weitere Trocknung einem Sieb- und Kühlvorgang zugeführt wird, worauf er einen Feuchtigkeitsgehalt von höchstens 17-17,5 % aufweist.
