A method for supervising a rolling mill, particularly for the on-line control of the rolling process in Sendzimir-type mills, characterized in that it comprises the steps that consist in: interfacing the user with a mathematical model which is suitable to generate rolling schedules on the basis of parameters related to the type of material to be rolled and to the type of mill used, and periodically activating the mathematical model; supplying the mathematical model with the parameters required to determine a rolling schedule which is suitable for the material to be rolled; activating the various functions of the mathematical model according to the current rolling events; and managing the output information of the model in order to feed it back to a higher-level supervisor system which is suitable to control the rolling process. <IMAGE>
