Abstract (en)
A cooling system for hot rolled metal strip has the strip passing under a curtain of coolant dropped by a line of dropper tubes fitted to a tank mounted over the strip feed. Each dropper pipe is fitted with a valve (6) which opens and closes the coolant flow via a common control (8). This enables the operator shut off the coolant rapidly and without excess flow. The flow valves are operated by a slider or by a rotating drive shaft (7). The slider/shaft has seals (19) to contain the coolant. The ends of the dropper tubes are fitted with flow control apertures to generate the coolant curtain.

Eine Kühlvorrichtung zum Kühlen eines heißen bewegten Metallbandes mittels laminarer Kühlmittelstrahlen besteht aus mindestens einem quer zur Bandlaufrichtung angeordneten Wasserkasten (3), in den mindestens eine Kühlmittelzuführleitung (4) mündet und aus dem eine Vielzahl von im Abstand voneinander angeordneten Kühlmittelableitungen (5) austreten. Damit während des laufenden Betriebes, insbesondere auch während der Einschalt- und Ausschaltphase der Kühlvorrichtung gleichmäßige Strömungsverhältnisse in den Kühlmittelstrahlen auftreten und ein unkontrolliertes Nachfließen von Kühlmittel sicher vermieden wird, ist jeder Kühlmittelableitung (5) ein Absperrorgan (6) zugeordnet. <IMAGE>
