Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0924177A1] A pyrotechnic composition for generating clean gases comprises oxygenated crosslinkable organic binder; light metal; potassium perchlorate; and nitrogen-containing oxidant. The pyrotechnic composition for generating clean gases comprises: (a) oxygenated crosslinkable organic binder; (b) light metal selected from boron and aluminum; (c) potassium perchlorate; and (d) nitrogen containing oxidant selected from ammonium perchlorate, triaminoguanidine nitrate, hexogene, octogene and hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane and ammonium nitrate in stabilized phase; where: the weight content, x, of nitrogen compound relative to total weight of composition satisfies the relationship: 0% ≤ x ≤ 15% and the weight content of ammonium = 29-93.5% total weight; and composition also contains reactive organic nitrogen compound selected from nitroguanidine, guanidinium nitrate and oxamide, the weight content, y, of said composition relative to the total weight satisfying the relationships: y ≥ 5%, and 5% ≤ (x + y) ≤ 30%. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the pyrotechnic composition to generate clean gases.
