[origin: DE19729844A1] Disclosed is an injector comprising a HP source (8) from which fuel is fed into injection valves (14) controlled by a piezoelectric or magnetostrictive pulse (59) valve (40). Said pulse enables a three-way valve to be developed, the closing body (42) of which can be put into an intermediate position, where a control chamber (36) exerts upon said closing body a hydraulic force in the direction of closure (21) of the closing member in the injector and can be connected both to a HP fuel source (8) and to an unloading space so as to permit the control pressure to be set in a range from the source high pressure to the discharge pressure, thereby adjusting a partial opening of the closing element in the injecting valve, so that a reduced amount of fuel can be injected into the combustion chamber of the engine.
