[origin: DE19757526C1] The tube is fabricated from a smooth tube (1'). Helical ribs (2) are formed on the outside by rolling material out of the tube wall, the ribbed tube (1) is rotated, and rising ribs are formed from the smooth tube. During forming, the tube is supported by an internal mandrel (10). After forming, the ribs are upset to form intermediate partially open channels (3). Toothed gear-like upsetting discs (6,7) form a channel cover (3a) in stages by shaping and connecting projections (12a, 12b).
