[origin: EP0925893A2] A circular saw for masonry, has handles (11,13) provided respectively with an electrical on/off switch (12) and an electrical interlock switch (14), on a housing (10) containing a drive unit (20) and a partially enclosed cutting disc (50) which are pivotally linked (34) to the end of a sole plate (30) and kept apart under the action of a spring (36). A calibrated depth-scale arm (35), attached to the free end of the sole plate, allows the required depth to be preselected with an adjustable stop (33) movable along a probe rail (32) which in turn engages a mechanical cutout (15). In the event of the housing moving closer to the sole plate than the probe rail set-point allows, the cutout is rotated to deactivate the interlock switch via a push rod (16), and stop the saw.
